Dr.Saleh Alawaji- Keynote Speaker
Dr. Saleh Alawaji was a senior advisor to the Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources form 29 March 2017 until 28 March 2018, the Deputy Minister for Electricity from 7 October 2002 until 7 February 2018, in the Ministry of Industry and Electricity, Ministry of Water and Electricity, and then Ministry of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources. He was also the Chairman of Board of Saudi Electricity Company since 30 May 2010 until 21 January 2018, a board member since 7 October 2002. He was also a board member in GCCIA (The Electricity Connection Authority) of the GCC countries since November 2005, and he was the chairman of this Organization for four years (2006-2009). He started his career in 1982 in field of standardization (Saudi Arabian Standard Organization, SASO), and worked in this field for about ten years. He moved to the R&D in the field of Energy, (Renewable Energy, Energy Conservation, and Energy Efficiency) and worked in this field for about ten years too, the last three years of it he was the Director of the Energy Research Institute in King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). He published 55 papers. He is a member and ex-member in several boards and national and international committees.
Alawaji got a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK, in 1990.
