Eng. Amani AL Azzam is the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Jordan .
She graduated from Jordan University science and Technology (Irbid-Jordan) as an Electrical Power Engineer in 1989.
In 1990 she joined the National electric Power Company in Jordan as a Planning Engineer.
In 2002 she had held a position of Technical studies section head, and she became a manager for the Technical studies Department in 2004 .
In year 2006 she held a position of Managing Director Assistant for Planning Affairs, and nominated as a Secretary General for EIJLLPST Project (Eight Interconnection project which aims to connect Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Syria and Turkey).
In 2010 she became a Managing Director Assistant for Operation and Planning Affairs. .
Eng. Amani During her Carrier focused mainly on generation expansion studies, IPP’s Projects and Electrical Interconnection Projects and Nowadays she is deeply involved in the Renewable Energy projects, Gas projects, Oil Shale Retorting projects and oil exploration.
Dr Khatib is member of the Senate – Jordan’s Upper House, since 2016. He is Honorary Vice Chairman of the World Energy Council, and past-Chairman of the International Committee for Developing Countries, 1992- 1995 Session. He is also past-Chairman – Jordan Electricity Regulatory Commission.
Dr. Khatib received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of London, where he also received a B.Sc. degree in economics. He is one of the few engineers to be admitted to the Fellowship of both the UK Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the US Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He is now a Life Fellow (LF) of the IEEE. He is also a member of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), as well as being member of the exclusive World Federation of Scientists (WFS).
He authored a book, on “Economics of Reliability in Electrical Power Systems” published in the UK in 1978 and more than 150 engineering lectures and referred articles and papers published by international learned societies
Dr. Khatib was awarded, in 2007, the prestigious “Global Energy Award” by the World Energy Council. In 1998 he was awarded the “Medal of Achievement” of the Institution of Electrical Engineers in the UK. He is mentioned in quality biographical references, and one of the few non-Americans to be included in the scientific reference “American Men and Women of Science”.
Eng. Walid Shahin has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector with hands-on experience in Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE), policy dialogue, load research and tariff setting, energy auditing and management, Research and Development (R&D).
Eng. Walid is currently the director of The National Energy Research Center at the Royal Scientific Society, which is one of the key leading institutions in the energy sector in Jordan, and is responsible for conducting studies, research, audits, trainings and the implementation of pilot EE and RE projects.
Eng. Walid is very active in many local and regional committees; in terms of EE and RE, he was the head of “Energy and Green Building Committee” at the Jordan Engineers Association, head of the “Energy Labeling for Household Appliances” Committee at the Jordan Institute for Standards & Metrology, member of “Energy Efficient Building Code” Committee, Ministry of Housing & Public Works. On the regional level he was a Member of the Arab EE Guidelines working group which was responsible for the preparation of the Arab EE Guideline.
Eng. Walid obtained his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois at Chicago 1986 .
Dr. El Desoky is the Vice Chairman of NPPA for Studies and Nuclear Affairs in Egypt .
Dr. El Desoky has participated in the following activities :
- Project manager for implementation the consultant contract for the first nuclear power plant pre-contract acctivites.
- Chef of the centeral technical work group for negotation with the Russia side for EPC contract , Operation and Maintenance contract, Fresh Fuel contract,and Spent fuel contract for the first Egyptian nuclear power plants (4 units).
- Participation for conducting a feasibility study for a NPP project in Egypt for electricity generation and sea-water dsalination.
- Participation for Preparating of bids invetation specifications (BIS) for the the first Egyptian NPP project.
- Participation for the first Egyptian NPP technology assessment.
- Member of the IAEA technical work group of the nuclear desalination (TWG-ND).
- Chef of the nuclear power plants authority public acceptance group.
- Conducting national software for electricity power plants (including nuclear) financing and economic assessment.
- Conducting study for Development of an Integrated Economic and Financial Assessment Tool for Power/Desalination Systems.
- Conducting study for "Development an Economic Assessment Tool for Power and desalinations Plants Impacts on Climate Change.
- Several studies in the Mechanical, nuclear and environmental engineering science (nuclear power plants studies, nuclear desalination, projects environmental impacts, developments in the design and safety of nuclear power plants, countries nuclear activities, nuclear accidents analysis, nuclear conventions, computers and data base, training, technology transfer, nuclear media)
- Publishing many scientific papers in the nuclear engineering inside and outside Egypt.
Samir ALKotob is an engineering advisor at the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. He joined the Fund in 1999 and he works on appraisal and loan management of energy projects, primarily for electric power generation plants, power transmission, and renewable energy projects. He participated in numerous studies on the Arab electric power interconnections. From 1978 to 1999, he held several research and management posts at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research where he led research projects in power, control and industrial systems. He graduated from the American University of Beirut in Electrical Engineering in 1971. He earned the M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York in 1973 and 1976 respectively.
Dr. Mohamed Yusuf Al-Hamad received his Phd degree in Electricity Markets in 2016, and he received his M.Sc and B.Sc in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Bahrain in 2002 and 1996 respectively. His PHD program covers the Development of the GCC Electrical Power Market and Trading platforms. He is working in GCC Interconnection Authority since 15 May 2012 as Senior Executive Power Trade in Market Operations Section. He worked in Electricity and Water Authority as Act. Head in Planning & Design Section, Distribution Directorate for 3 years, & he worked as a system control engineer for 8 years. He also worked as instructor in University of Bahrain from 1996 to 2001.
Dr. Hiyasat recieved his PH.D in Electrical Engineering from Moscow Power Institute ( MPI ) , Russia in 1983 .

Eng. Haider works in Ministry of Electricity – Iraq as a Maintenance , operation and planning engineer in power plants for 20 years till present .

ُEng. He also have training certificates in the management of energy projects from Denmark Germany, Italy, Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt (renewable energy) and the World Bank , UNDP.

Ms. Loubna FARABI holds a degree in State Engineering from the Mohammedia School of Engineering in Rabat at 2000.
With more than 18 years of experience, Ms. Loubna FARABI has held various positions of Thermal and Renewable Project Manager at ONEE, notably as Project Manager for hydroelectric power plants, combined cycle power plants and wind farms. .
Since April 2012, Ms. Loubna FARABI has been appointed head of the Integrated Wind Program 850 MW, the 2nd phase of the integrated Moroccan wind energy program (2000 MW) launched by King Mohammed VI in June 2010 and which is one of the most essential components of the Moroccan strategy to achieve 42% of renewable by 2020, and 52% by 2030, in the energy mix of the Kingdom of Morocco.
Recognized for her leadership and extensive skills in the development and construction of large wind farms during the past decade, Ms. Loubna FARABI has led the entire tendering process of the 850 MW project which has been fiercely competed between five leading global consortium in the development of large wind farm projects, leading to world record results in terms of the lowest worldwide tariffs as well as the local content rate (industrial integration) exceeding 65%.”
Mr. MOUAHID holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from Laval University; he is specialized in Electrical grid and automation systems.
He joined ONEE-BE in 2009 as a field engineer at the Tangier Wind Farm of 140MW, where he supervised electrical construction work, commissioning and wind turbine tests.
In 2012 he joined the project of wind production of 850MW, as Project Engineer, where he supervised electrical grid connection studies for 850 MW, he Prepare and develop wind farm specifications (electrical engineering, turbine performance,…) and he Support technical evaluation process of the offers.
Rayed Al-Harthi Manager of EHV Network Planning Departement in the National Grid Company (NG-SA) held a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from KFUPM in 2001. He participated in a number of joint coordination committees and He is a member of verious initiativesand technical teams, working in the electical interconnections with other countries.
He participated in a number of international conferences with technical papers in the field of electrical system planning.
ُEng. Mohamed al Shaikh is Currently in the position “Chief Network Officer” Hold BSc in Electrical Engineering (1984) and MSC in Engineering and Management (1997) (UK), Chartered Engineer (UK) and Diploma in Project Management (2004) authored many technical and economic papers concerning power systems.
Joined The Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA) in 2007 at critical time in the project phase and was crucial in the execution of the GCCIA USD 1.5 Billion project and in the preparing for the start of the operation and Maintenance until the commissioning of the first GCCIA substation in Kuwait (Al Zour) in 2009.
Appointed the General Secretary of the GCC Planning Committee responsible for the Interconnection and Generation Planning studies such as GCCIA Generation Capacity Expansion in the GCC, Network Expansion and system Planning studies of the Interconnection, in charge of the Interconnection expansion projects within and beyond the GCC.
Responsible for the management, and contracts of the GCCIA assets comprising 400 KV GIS substations, Back to Back HVDC converter stations, 1000 KM 400 KV overhead transmission lines, 50 KM 400 KV submarine cables, and 15 KM 400 KV land cables. Worked with Electricity and Water Authority in Bahrain for 25 years in the operation, maintenance, planning and projects until 2007.
Since 2008, the project manager for the development of the GCCIA fiber optic strategy to commercialise the GCCIA fiber network infrastructure to the telecom industry.
Since 2012, GCC Cigre Board Member and Member of the C1 Cigre study Committee (Paris) concerned with the system developments and economics and chairperson of Study Committee SC 7 concerned with HVDC and Power Electronics in the GCC Cigre.
Eng. AL Ghamdi is an Electrical engineer , he graduated from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah – Saudi Arabia in June 2012 with the first-class honors degree in (Electrical Engineering – Power and Machines).
Eng. AL Ghamdi has been working as a power transmission planning and studies engineer in system planning departments specializing in power system analysis, studies, and planning.
Dr. Badran is currently the Advisor to the President for International Relations and Scientific Centers in Philadelphia University. he received his Ph.D. in High Voltage Technology fromUniversity of London in 1970.
He is an active member in a number of societies, including those which are concerned with the woman empowerment.
Since 1975 until end of 2010, Dr. Badran held senior official posts in the Jordanian Government and other Arab Countries, he also published many books and studies .
Dr. Badran is a co-founder of a number of educational institutions and he was the first Jordanian Governor to the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

- State Appreciation Award in Social & Human Sciences –Arab Thought, Amman-Jordan 2002.
- King Hussein Medal for Excellence of the 1st Order 2001.

Eng.Hashim A AlZahrani is the Manager of Interconnection Control Center at GCC interconnection authority. He received his Bachelor & Master degrees in electrical engineering from king Fahad University of petroleum and minerals, Dammam in 2004 and 2010 respectively. From 2004 to 2011, Hashim had been with the Department of system operations, in Saudi Electricity Company, as a chief dispatching engineer. After his 8 years of carrier with SEC, Hashim decided it was time for change of scenery, and moved to Saudi Aramco where he was offered to be a system operations supervisor. From 2011 to 2013 Hashim joined Saudi Aramco with northern area power operations department as system operations supervisor and also covering the division and acting division manager for the real time operations activities, scheduling & maintenance in additions to system studies and projects commissioning responsibilities. Since 2013, He joined GCC interconnection authority as head of ICC then Manager of operations. Besides that, Hashim is an effective member in many national and international committees such as GO15 technical committee (GO 15 is the originations for largest Transmission operators in the world), GCC operations committee, KSA power quality committee, and also GCC Cigre technical committee where he is the secretary of the TC. Hashim also an effective member in Cigre Paris study committees and working groups. Hashim published many papers in the field on electricity markets, system operations and energy exchanges.

Dr. Asma Dhakouani is a chemical and process engineer since 2008, a holder of an MBA in 2011 and has a PhD in industrial engineering since 2018 where she has worked on multidimensional integrated modelling of the power system with a focus on the integration of renewable energies for the case of Tunisia. Dr. Dhakouani has occupied previously different positions related to the energy sector and sustainable development, i.e. in the World Trade Centre San Diego (USA), National Agency for Energy Conservation (Tunisia), Mediterranean Renewable Energy Centre (Tunisia). Currently, she is working within the state-owned utility company of Tunisia “Société Tunisienne de l’Electricité et du Gaz” where she is assigned in the department of renewable energies planning and studies within the Central Directorate of Strategy and Planning within, dealing with opportunity and feasibility studies for the integration of renewable energies projects in Tunisia.
Received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Leicester University in 2013 and is an authorized Substation engineer at Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA).

He is an expert in International Power Development and execution with a track record of pioneering project delivery, construction projects and asset management. He has delivered best in class operational, HSEQ and financial results in Coal, Gas, Nuclear, advanced Solar & Wind technologies.
Salah Al Deen Khalaf Al Alaween is a production planning engineer at National electric power company since 2008 , where he is at Agreements implementation and follow up Power Purchase Agreements with generation companies (PPA’s) and electrical interconnection agreements with neighbouring countries) section ,he is graduated from Jordan university wih bachelor degree in electrical engineering.
Omneya Elgowainy is vice chairman for projects & operation, working for New & Renewable Energy Authority – Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy in Egypt.
She has 25 years of experience in the field of renewable energy. Her functions include full-cycle supervision and management of solar and wind projects.
She shared in developing the Egyptian green building code and the green pyramid rating system.
She holds an M Sc. and B Sc. in engineering from Ain Shams University.
Dr. Fawwaz Z. Elkarmi is currently assistant secretary general of the higher council for science and technology (HCST) since October 2013.
Dr. Elkarmi worked in government, para-government, and private sector for 35 years in Jordan and 7 years abroad (Kuwait and U.S.A). His experience spans several positions including: holding the post of dean of engineering at Amman University, director of energy at HCST, planning manager at the electricity company, owner of a consulting firm, general manager of an industrial company, a freelance consultant and trainer, and a university professor.
He holds a Doctor of Engineering degree from Texas A&M University, U.S.A. obtained in 1981, and M.Sc. from the same university in 1978. He obtained his B.Sc. from Bosphorus University (Robert College) in Istanbul, Turkey in 1973. He holds “independence medal of first order”, and is a member of several local, regional and international professional associations and a member in many editorial boards of international journals.
Dr. Elkarmi published a book related to power system planning, two book chapters and several journal articles in reputed scientific journals in addition to several technical reports as a local consultant. He currently taught one course on part time basis at Princess Sumayia University for Technology. Dr. Elkarmi is a member of several professional local and international committees and organizations.
Mr. Alsuraih is the Cluster Leader of the World Bank Energy Advisory Services for the GCC and regional energy trade program for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. He oversees teams to develop policy solutions and investments needed to address evolving energy sector challenges facing the transition to sustainable energy systems. With over twenty years of professional work experience, of which about ten years in electric utility industry, Mr. Alsuraih handled power sector development and operations, as well as managerial responsibilities including tasks in utility restructuring as part of wider power sector reform projects. He has been working with governments, utilities, and relevant stakeholders across the MENA region to strengthen the role of power sector in economic growth and social prosperity.
Some of his recent tasks is leading projects to strengthen power sector sustainability by unlocking private sector investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy systems modernization. He is currently leading the World Bank Initiative on Pan-Arab Regional Energy Trade Platform which supports the development electricity and gas trade markets within the region, and beyond. He has led and contributed to different energy sector development reports. Mr. Alsuraih holds a B.Sc. in Power Engineering and MBA from Southampton School of Management in the UK.
Eng.Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed is currently acting as Director of Technical Market Affairs Department, within the Electricity Market &Cross-Border Interconnectors Sector, Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC). He got his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Communication & Electronics Dept, in 2002 from Ain Shams University.
Director at Jordan Nuclear Power Company (JNPC); before joining JNPC in 2016 as contracts director, Mr. Aulimat served as Consultant for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna for developing the energy planning tools that used by the IAEA. Mr. Aulimat worked as Commercial and Contracts Engineer at Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) and participated in developing Jordan’s Nuclear Power Plant Project (JNPP). Before that, Mr. Aulimat worked at the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) for more than ten years as Head of Generation Planning and participated in developing many projects during this period such as Oil Shale Power Plant Project and other Independent Power Producers (IPPs) projects. Mr. Aulimat received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Al-Balqa’ Applied University in field of Power Systems. Mr. Aulimat has carried out many studies in long term electricity demand forecasting, energy planning, energy policy, and feasibility of power projects.
